PATENT LEATHER: Shine and Durability

Thanks to its thin protective layer, patent leather is naturally resistant and easy to care for. Its mirror-like finish is its greatest asset.

  • DAILY

    • No waterproofing needed: Unlike classic leathers, patent leather doesn't require waterproofing. Applying a spray could even leave undesirable marks.
    • Gentle dusting: Use a chamois (a soft cloth) or a slightly damp sponge to remove daily impurities.
    • The shine ritual: If the patent leather loses its intensity, use a special patent leather milk.

Tip: Apply the product to the cloth, not directly to the leather. Always test on an inconspicuous area beforehand.

    • The final touch: Once the treatment is dry, polish with a clean chamois to instantly revive the shine.
  • DURABILITY AND MAINTENANCE

To ensure your patent leather item retains its shine over the years, store it in a cotton pouch in a place protected from light and humidity. Remember to maintain it regularly with appropriate care, following the advice previously given for an optimal care routine.

Expert's tip: Some signs of wear (deep scratches, cracks) are irreversible. If in doubt, entrust your favorite item to a cobbler or leather specialist.

THE METALLIC LEATHER: A touch of light

Metallic leather is a precious material. Its shine comes from a delicate film deposited on the skin, making each piece luminous and unique.

  • DAILY

    • Precious Fragility: This finish is sensitive to friction. Avoid all contact with abrasive materials that could scratch the metallic film.
    • Minimalist Maintenance: Never use waterproofing spray or chemical products, as they risk altering the color. A simple wipe with a soft cloth is enough to dust it.
    • Light Stains: If needed, wipe with a very slightly damp cloth, then air dry.
  • DURABILITY AND MAINTENANCE

The finish of this leather is delicate. We advise you to avoid contact and friction with abrasive materials as much as possible.
Store it away from light and humidity in a cotton pouch to prevent dust and preserve its colors.
Remember to regularly maintain your item by dusting it.

Expert's note: Some signs of time (deep scratches, cracks) are irreversible. If in doubt, entrust your favorite item to a shoemaker or a leather specialist.

"Pony hair" leather is distinguished by its natural hair preserved on the hide, offering a velvety feel and a bold style.

PONY LEATHER: Character and softness

"Pony" leather is characterized by its natural hair left on the hide, offering a velvety feel and a distinctive style.

  • DAILY

    • Initial protection: Before the first outing, waterproofing is essential. Spray from 20 cm away and repeat regularly.
    • Weekly brushing: To maintain the beauty of the hair, use a soft brush once a week. Always brush in the direction of the hair to remove dust.
    • Durability tip: Pony hair leather is sensitive to repeated rubbing, which can lead to localized hair loss (natural over time). To preserve it, avoid too frequent contact with rough clothing.
  • DURABILITY AND MAINTENANCE

This leather is delicate, so it's natural for it to shed hair with repeated contact and friction. To keep your item in good condition for as long as possible, we recommend avoiding repeated friction.
Store it away from light and humidity in a cotton pouch to prevent dust and preserve its colors.
Remember to regularly maintain your item by dusting it and applying a waterproofing spray.

Expert's note: Some signs of age (deep scratches, cracks) are irreversible. If in doubt, entrust your favorite item to a cobbler or leather specialist.

EMBOSSED AND VEGAN LEATHER: Care guide

For these materials, the ritual is identical to that of our Smooth Leather.

  • A small clarification for embossing: When applying a conditioning milk to a patterned leather (crocodile, lizard, etc.), make sure to distribute the product evenly. This prevents cream residues from accumulating in the grooves of the pattern.
