The steps to follow to re-wax your jacket
You can also have your jacket re-waxed at any Barbour corner.
1. Preparing the wax
Take your can of Barbour Wax Thornproof Dressing and remove the lid. Then place the can of shoe polish in a container of water hot enough to soften the wax. It usually takes about twenty minutes for the wax to become liquid.
2. Cleaning
In the meantime, simply use a sponge and cold water and gently scrub the exterior of the jacket. Avoid using hot water or any type of soap.
3. Shoe polish
Throughout this step, the wax box must remain in very hot water to prevent it from hardening. Using an old cloth or rag, spread the melted wax evenly over the jacket. Pay particular attention to seams, folds, and dry areas. Be careful not to let the wax stain uncoated fabric parts (inside the jacket, inside pockets, etc.).
4. Drying
Once waxed, hang your jacket up and let it dry overnight in a warm place, away from other clothing. Do not place your newly waxed jacket near other products for a while until the excess wax has completely disappeared.
