Balzac Paris is B Corp certified, with a score of 96.6 points! But what does that mean?

B Corp is a label that recognizes companies committed to their positive impact on society and the environment , while remaining profitable. Awarded by the B Lab organization, it is based on a rigorous evaluation.

To obtain it, a company must complete its BIA - Business Impact Assessment - covering 220 questions around five pillars, then validate a score of at least 80 points following an audit.

Impact Business Models, or IBMs , are strategies specifically designed to generate tangible benefits for one or more of the company's stakeholders. Three IBMs played a key role in achieving the label:

We became a mission-driven company in April 2022;

We work to preserve resources through the use of recycled materials or materials from sustainable sources;

We reduce toxins through various certifications, including GOTS for organic cotton.

This is much more than a label: it is a recognition of our commitment to more responsible fashion, which does not aim to make us the best company in the world, but a better company for the world.

The 5 BCorp Pillars

1. Governance - Mission-driven company

This pillar assesses Balzac Paris's commitment to its structure and operation.
For nearly ten years, we've been working to transform the fashion industry with a responsible approach. As a Mission-Driven Company, we pursue social and environmental goals embodied in our purpose: "Writing together a world where what is desirable is sustainable and what is sustainable is desirable," and driven by transmission, ethics, and respect for the environment.

2. Collaborators - Life at Balzac Paris

This pillar assesses Balzac Paris' actions to ensure the well-being, safety and professional development of its employees, while promoting inclusive models.
Rooted in a family spirit, teamwork, sharing, and solidarity are at the heart of our regular activities. Inclusion is essential, with initiatives like DuoDays and the Disability Mural. Finally, our strategic hubs, predominantly led by women, demonstrate our commitment to diversity and talent development.

3. Community - Relationship of trust with stakeholders

This pillar assesses Balzac Paris' impact on communities, promoting inclusion, local development, and responsible practices such as fair trade.
Our carefully selected suppliers guarantee traceable and ethical fashion through a code of conduct and regular audits. We are also founding members of the Tricolor Collective, dedicated to promoting the French wool industry. Finally, our TPR (Always More Responsible) initiatives through the ENSEMBLE project support causes close to our hearts, such as ocean protection, upcycling, and solidarity with the most disadvantaged.

4. Environment - Reducing the impact of our collections

This pillar assesses Balzac Paris' impact on the planet, by promoting sustainable resource management and innovative ecological solutions.
We primarily use recycled and sustainable materials—98% of our cotton comes from organic or recycled sources—and prioritize local production, with 92% of our products made in the EU. Our stringent certifications, such as GOTS, guarantee the limited use of toxic substances and demonstrate our commitment to more responsible fashion. In 2023, we increased our use of recycled materials eightfold and reduced our carbon footprint by 16% compared to 2022.

5. Customers - The customer experience at Balzac Paris

This pillar measures how Balzac Paris guarantees quality products, protects personal data and raises awareness among its customers about social and societal issues.
The 4.6/5 rating on Trustpilot is a testament to the trust our ambassadors place in us. Our attentive and, of course, iconic customer service supports each customer from fitting to purchase and beyond, with services such as repairs. Our team is always available to find solutions tailored to each customer's needs and requests.
