DENIM: A fabric with character

Initially designed as workwear for its robustness, denim has become a wardrobe staple. It's a living material that develops a unique patina and tells a story over time. Because indigo pigments often remain on the surface, jeans require a specific care routine to maintain the intensity of their color.

DENIM: A fabric with character

Initially designed as workwear due to its robustness, denim has become a staple in our wardrobes. It's a living material that develops a patina and tells a story over time. Because indigo pigments often remain on the surface, jeans require a specific care routine to maintain the intensity of their color.

  • Crude oil

Pure, untreated, it is initially stiff but molds to your body day after day.

  • The distressed look

Pre-washed, it gets softer and more supple from the very first wear.

  • The stretch

Enriched with a hint of elastane for absolute comfort and total freedom of movement.

  • WASH

    First wash (The essential ritual)

When you buy them, your jeans are still full of pigment.

    • Solo wash: For their first bath, wash them alone. Turn them inside out, close buttons and zippers.
    • Grandma's secret: To set the color, soak your jeans for a few hours in cold water with a handful of salt and a glass of white vinegar. This is the foolproof trick against color bleeding!

    Daily care

Jeans are tough, but they hate over-zealous care.

    • Less is more: There's no need to wash them after every wear. Air them out for a few hours to freshen up the fabric.
    • Always inside out: Washing, drying, and ironing should be done inside out to protect the fiber and the brightness of the blue.
    • Gentleness first: Use a 30°C cycle with a minimal amount of detergent.
    • Controlled spin: Do not exceed 600 rpm. Too strong a spin creates irreversible white marks (the famous marbling).
  • DRYING AND IRONING

    • Air drying: Tumble drying is a no-go. It "cooks" the elastic fibers and weakens the denim. Hang your jeans inside out, in the shade. Direct sunlight is the enemy of indigo and can yellow the cotton.
    • Ironing: If necessary, iron inside out at a moderate temperature (110°C max). Often, your body heat is enough to smooth out a few creases after wearing them for a few minutes.
  • TASK PROCESSING

    • Responsiveness: Act quickly to prevent the stain from settling deep into the fibers.
    • Cold only: Never use hot water on a grease stain, as it will set it permanently.
    • Local cleaning: Gently dab with a mild soap (such as Marseille soap) before starting your usual cycle.
  • STORAGE CONDITIONS

    • On the hanger rather than in a pile: Hanging your jeans helps preserve their original shape and prevents creasing. Use clip protectors and hang them upside down to limit marks on the waistband.
    • Darkness: As with all our beautiful fabrics, store them away from direct light.
  • THE "MAINTENANCE" ADVICE

Your jeans have stretched out a little? That's typical for cotton. A machine wash (following our advice above) will allow the fibers to retract and restore your denim's shape.

Balzac Paris's words: A beautiful pair of jeans is one that ages with you. The more you care for them, the more unique their patina will be.
