At Balzac Paris, we attach particular importance to craftsmanship and are proud to share with you behind the scenes and the manufacturing history of our products, which are part of our TPR (Always more responsible) approach.
Today, Maria, accessories designer, looks back on the manufacturing story of Laël: a necklace like no other.
Why is the Laël necklace different from the others?I have been working on this creation for many months. It all started with a crazy bet… That of creating a jewel around a natural flower.Where did this “crazy gamble” come from?At Balzac Paris, flowers are very present and are a daily source of inspiration. Even on jewelry, flowers often find their place. This time, we wanted to go even further in our thinking and get closer to nature. How did this bet become real?It didn't happen in a snap… We took the time to test different components before finding the one that could preserve a dried flower. And it is the natural resin that has met all our expectations. It was then necessary to give it the life of a real jewel and it was again a sacred ordeal of tests. We therefore worked hand in hand with our Italian manufacturer to seek out very specific craftsmanship. That's the case to say !And where did you find this know-how?At an Italian craftsman who tested this technique and then made each medallion by hand, one by one. Each flower is meticulously cut, then molded in natural resin. Once the molding is complete, the medallions are painted by hand. Real painstaking work! What do you like most about this locket? Its singularity, we have combined several techniques that I like to work with: craftsmanship and jewellery, and because no medallion is alike, each piece is unique. Something increasingly rare…I also liked that our manufacturer followed us in this project, that he believed in it with us and the result is as we hoped.
