A 100% NATURAL MATERIAL

This may be the first time you've heard of it, so what is vegetable ivory? It is a TPR (Always More Responsible) material from a seed that comes from a palm tree called Tagua. When the palm fruit drops, the seeds are harvested and then dried in the sun. They are then carved and polished in the same way as wood is worked! The coloring of the sculpted pieces is then carried out using 100% natural food dyes.

HANDMADE JEWELRY

Of natural origin, the vegetable ivory was worked by hand by a cooperative of five Quichua women , in Ecuador, in a fair trade approach. The jewelry was then assembled in our partner workshop in Portugal.

JEWELRY MADE BY A COOPERATIVE OF WOMEN

They were housewives, farmers, market vendors, and they wished gain their independence ! These 5 Ecuadorian women took their courage in both hands, and after 1 year of training, they compose today a true cooperative specializing in the manufacture of handcrafted jewelry.

FAIR TRADE JEWELRY

Part of the funds collected by these women are donated to an association to help with the education of children in the Quichua village , through scholarships and the purchase of school supplies. For example, the uniform is compulsory at school, outside it has a certain cost! Thanks to this program, 40 children benefit from financial aid each year, and the association has already paid out more than 280 scholarships!
